Privacy Policy

RingStock is made by HandR Ventures LLC ("we", "us"). This policy explains what information RingStock handles, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short because there isn't much to say: RingStock exists to store your livestock records for you, and we don't do anything else with them.

What RingStock stores

• Your account. An email address and a password (stored hashed, never readable by us). Nothing else is required to create an account.
• Your herd records. Whatever you enter: animals, tags, photos, weights, feed schedules, shows, health records, contacts and buyers, expenses and income, calendar entries, and record-book details such as a member name, club, and county. These belong to you.
• Sharing. If you invite someone to your herd, we store their email address so the invitation can be matched to their account.
• Advisor verification. If you ask to be verified as an FFA advisor, agriculture teacher, 4-H leader, or Extension educator, we keep the name, school or program email, organization, role, and state you give us, and whether we approved it. We use it only to decide whether the free Advisor plan applies to your account, and we email our own support address so a person can review it. It is deleted with your account.
• Class codes. If you enter a class code from an FFA advisor, agriculture teacher, 4-H leader, or Extension educator, we add that advisor to your herd as View only and record which code your herd joined through, so we can count how many students each program brings. The advisor sees only what Herd sharing shows any View only member. You can remove them at any time; the record that you joined through the code stays with your herd until the herd or account is deleted.
• Device settings. Preferences such as your opening screen are kept on the device, not on our servers.

RingStock needs a free account. Starting with version 1.2 of the phone app, the app asks you to create one or sign in the first time it opens, and records already on the phone are backed up to that account.

Selling data and advertising

• We don't sell or rent your data, and we don't share it with data brokers.
• We use your herd records to run RingStock for you and the people you invite.
• Sponsor messages on RingStock Free. On the free plan you may see one sponsor message at a time on the Home screen and below the feed schedule. Sponsors are businesses we choose and approve ourselves. We don't accept sponsors whose products aren't right for young members, such as alcohol, tobacco, vaping, or gambling. The messages come from RingStock, not from an advertising network. Every free account sees the same messages, taking turns, and they are never chosen using your herd records, your account, your location, or anything else about you.
• To show sponsors how their message did, the app counts how many times each message was shown and tapped. We store only daily totals for each sponsor. The count doesn't include your name, account, or device, and we don't record who sent it. Sponsors receive only those totals. If you tap through to a sponsor's website, that site's own privacy policy applies. Sponsor messages never appear on record books, feed sheets, or anything you print or email, and the paid plans have none.
• We don't track you across other apps or websites, and we don't use advertising networks. If that ever changes, we'll update this policy first and ask for your permission wherever the law or your device requires it.

Who we rely on

Your cloud data is stored with Supabase (database, sign-in, and photo storage), hosted in the United States and protected by row-level security so that only your account and the people you invite can read your rows. The apps are distributed through Apple's App Store and TestFlight, Google Play, and our own website. If you choose to connect an Airtable base, RingStock copies your records into that base using a token you provide; that data is then also governed by Airtable's terms. We don't currently use analytics or advertising services.

Local weather. If you enter a farm ZIP code, RingStock saves it to your account and uses it to show the forecast and livestock heat warnings. To do that, the app sends the ZIP code to Zippopotam.us to find its approximate map position, and sends that position to the U.S. National Weather Service (api.weather.gov) to get the forecast and active alerts. Those requests carry the ZIP or its position and nothing else about you or your herd. RingStock never reads your phone's GPS. You can remove the ZIP code in Settings at any time.

Website forms. If you ask about the advisor pilot, a breeder trial, or a partnership on ringstock.online, we keep what you type in the form, which page you sent it from, and how you found the site, so we can reply. We use it only to answer you and to run those programs, and we do not sell it or add you to marketing lists. Write to support@ringstock.online to have it deleted.

Reminders and notifications

Health, follow-up, and show reminders are scheduled on your phone by the app. They are not sent through our servers.

Children and youth members

Many RingStock users are 4-H and FFA members, so we keep a few extra rules.

• Under 13. Children under 13 can't have their own RingStock account. A parent or guardian creates the account and uses it with the child. We don't knowingly collect personal information directly from a child under 13. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we'll delete it. A parent can ask us to do this at support@ringstock.online.
• 13 to 17. Teens may have their own account with a parent's or guardian's agreement, or be added to the family's herd under Herd sharing. Their records are handled the same way as everyone's: we don't sell them, and only the people the herd's owner invites can see them.
• What a parent enters about a member. Records can include a member's name, club, county, and project details so RingStock can build the record book. The account holder enters and controls this information. We use it only to show the records and reports, and it is deleted with the account.
• Advisors and leaders. An advisor, leader, or Extension educator sees a member's records only if the family invites them under Herd sharing, and only what that herd contains. Removing them ends their access right away. We never use advisor contacts to market to students.

Your choices

• Export. At any time, export your herd as a spreadsheet, a full backup file, or any report as PDF, Word, or Excel.
• Correct. Every record can be edited in the app.
• Delete. Delete your account from Settings in the browser or Windows app, or by following these steps. Deleting removes your account, every herd you own, and your photos from our servers. Herds you were invited to are unaffected.
• Leave a shared herd. Members can leave a herd at any time; owners can remove members.

Security

Data travels over encrypted connections. Passwords are hashed. Photos are stored in a private bucket and served through short-lived signed links. No system is perfectly secure, so use a strong password and keep a backup file if your records matter to you (they do).

Changes

If this policy changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and say so in the app or by email.
